The Amazonian Indigenous Embassy
The Indigenous Amazonian Embassy represents and supports the indigenous peoples located in the Ucayali region of the Peruvian Amazon:
Amahuaca, Ashaninka, Asheninka, Awajún, Cashinahua, Chitonahua, Iskonawa, Kakataibo, Kichwa, Kukama Kukamiria, Madija, Marinahua, Mashco Piro, Mastanahua, Matsigenka, Nahua, Sharanahua, Shipibo-Konibo, Yaminahua and Yine and other indigenous communities.
Mission
The mission of the Amazonian Indigenous Embassy is to preserve and disseminate the cultural heritage of indigenous peoples, contribute to improving their quality of life, expand their opportunities through education, and protect their ancestral territories, as well as the Amazon rainforest.
Vision
Our vision is to protect the Shipibo people and their Amazonian territories, preserving and promoting their invaluable cultural heritage, including their artistic and musical expressions and their deep ancestral knowledge of traditional plant-based medicine.
We seek to establish the foundations for Indigenous communities to develop a self-sufficient, dignified, and sustainable life, in harmony with their cultural identity and traditions. A life in which they can preserve, strengthen, and promote their culture, while simultaneously generating opportunities that allow them to live autonomously and respectfully from their ancestral heritage.
The Ambassador
Roger Mokanranko Bardales, belonging to the Shipibo-Konibo people, is an internationally recognized herbalist doctor, with extensive experience in the use of medicinal plants and a long history of travel to various countries.
Through his knowledge and international network, he has dedicated much of his work to supporting indigenous peoples and promoting nature conservation.
The Shipibo Konibos
The Shipibo-Konibo people are widely recognized for their distinctive art based on complex geometric patterns, as well as for their deep connection with nature and their ancestral knowledge of healing traditions, including the use of ayahuasca and other medicinal plants.
Most of its approximately 35,000 members live in Peru, mainly on the banks of the Ucayali River, in the Amazon region.
