Promotion of Shipibo culture in the Indigenous community of Puerto Firmeza

Ambassador Roger Bardales visited the Indigenous community of Puerto Firmeza together with international guests on the occasion of its 69th anniversary and the First Intercultural Agricultural and Artisanal Fair.
The event constitutes an initiative aimed at the revaluation and strengthening of Shipibo culture, including its language, dances, crafts, and, above all, its worldview.
During the fair, Shipibo artisans presented and sold their handicrafts, recognized as highly intricate works of art. Their designs carry deep symbolic meaning and are often associated with visions experienced through ayahuasca ceremonies.
This represents ancestral knowledge that is traditionally transmitted across generations, particularly from mothers to children, and forms an integral part of Indigenous cultural heritage and traditional knowledge systems.
The Indigenous Embassy is planning to actively support the preservation and promotion of Shipibo art by facilitating the development of digital marketplaces aimed at international distribution. In addition, it advocates for improvements to road infrastructure in order to increase accessibility and encourage more visitors to Indigenous communities where Shipibo culture continues to thrive.
This visit marked the beginning of a series of field trips to local communities, with the purpose of gaining a comprehensive understanding of their conditions, priorities, and needs.
